Organic Certification

We are certified by the BC Association for Regenerative Agriculture (BCARA #03-13-192). Certification provides peace of mind for the customer, who can rest assured that we adhere to the national organic standards, participate in a yearly inspection of our farm, and keep detailed records of all our inputs and operations.

Our Farming Practices

“To be a successful farmer one must first know the nature of the soil.” - Xenophon, Oeconomicus, 400 B.C.

Our biologically-intensive bed method of farming incorporates deep-organic, sustainable practices such as:

- nurturing the soil to avoid pest & disease problems

- utilizing cover crops and green manures to incorporate organic matter to feed the soil, and reduce soil erosion

- growing as much of our own cover crop and vegetable seed as we can produce

- minimal use of light machinery, so as not to compact the soil structure

- intensive bed by bed crop rotations so as to naturally deter pests & diseases

- brewing our own organic compost teas to feed our plants and deter diseases

- using floating row covers to warm the soil in the cool seasons, and to organically deter pests from our leafy crops

- using organic worm castings to help promote and support a wide range of micro-organisms in the soil

- making, and using, as much compost as we can produce

- cultivating weeds using hand tools

- minimal tillage, only when and where necessary
